To use a slip printer, first follow the steps in "Configuring a Slip Printer" below. Then once the printer is configured, scroll down in this article and follow the steps in "Connecting a Slip Printer to your Device."

    Configuring a Slip Printer

To connect and configure the slip printer, you will need to set up your PC’s NIC Card with two addresses, one for the network and one to access and configure the slip printer.

NOTE: Slip printing is used with the settings at the Category and Subcategory level. It is also used when restaurant receipts are enabled. For more information, see Restaurant Receipts.

To configure your slip printer, first, connect the printer to your network and turn it on. Then follow these steps:

    1. From the Windows 8 Start menu, type cmd in the Search field to search for the command prompt, then pressEnter.

    2. Type ipconfig /all in the command shell, then press Enter.

    3. Record the following information under the Ethernet settings.

    - IPv4 Address = x.x.x.x
    - Subnet mask = x.x.x.x
    - Default Gateway = x.x.x.x
    - DNS Server = x.x.x.x, x.x.x.x

NOTE: In Windows 7 and XP Pro, these settings can be found under Local Area Connection instead of Ethernet.

    4. From the Windows Start menu, select Control Panel.

    5. From the View By drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the screen, select Small Icons.

    6. Select Network and Sharing Center.

    10. To enable static IP address, select Use the following IP Address and then enter the information gathered in step 3, above.

You are setting up the PC's NIC card to use the same IP it received from the DHCP server. You must set this as a static IP to bind the second IP to this NIC card.

    11. Click the Advanced button.

    12. Click the IP Settings tab and then click the Add button in the IP Addresses section.

    13. Enter the following:

    - IP Address: 192.168.1.x (where x can be any number between 1 and 254, excluding 6. This IP address cannot conflict with any other device on your network.)

    - Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

The Add button will be selected.

    14. Click Add to bind this second IP to the NIC card.

    15. Open a browser and log in using 192.168.1.6, with the default password of 00000.

    16. Update the IP information. Do this by using the first three sets of your IPv4 value and adding a fourth value at the end that is not currently being used. For example, if your IPv4 was 1.2.3.4 you could set this new value as 1.2.3.175. The fourth value needs to be unique in your system. When you are done with this click Modify.

    17. After updating the IP address, the printer should restart with a loud beep.

You will now be able to access the slip printer in a browser via the new TCP\IP address.

    18. Reset your IP address settings by following steps 4–9 above, then select Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click OK, then click Close in both open network connection dialog boxes.
