Setting Up Your CB Series Time Clock

    This article will provide you with steps to follow to update the firmware version on your timeclock.  It is important to keep your clock up to date to ensure proper and secure functionality and take advantage of new features and feature enhancements.  

    To update the firmware version on your timeclock, follow these steps. :

    1. Go to the timeclock, press the MENU button, and enter your 5-digit admin passcode followed by the OK button. (See the account administrator for this passcode.)

         2. Use the arrow keys on the clock to navigate to the System Management option on the menu and press the OK button.

         3. Use the arrow keys on the clock to navigate to the Update Firmware option, at the bottom of the list on the menu, and press the OK button.

         4. Enter the code "8675309" and press the OK button.

    • The screen should display a message that the clock is downloading the new firmware (if a new version is available).

    • The timeclock will automatically reboot to complete the installation.

    • If the update fails (amber error screen), there may be a firewall or network security measure preventing the update process.  Check with your network administrator to ensure the clock is able to communicate with our servers.

    • If this issue persists, after all the network restrictions have been eliminated, contact our support team.

    The CB time clocks allow you to connect to the Internet via LAN while the CB6500 allow you to connect via LAN and WiFi. The process of activating your time clock via LAN is the same for the CB6000 and CB6500 models, so they have been grouped together in this step.

     


    Activation Via LAN

     

        1. Attach a LAN cable to your clock and router, then plug your clock into a power outlet. (Your clock should be powered on. Select LAN (option 2) on your 6500 model.

        2. Enter your uAttend Company ID. This ID can be found in the upper right corner of your uAttend Web Portal.

        3. Confirm that your account information is correct.

        4. Select a Time Zone based on the location of the clock.

        5. Press OK when setup is complete.

    Activation Via WiFi

     

        1. Plug your time clock into a power outlet.

        2. Select 1 for WiFi

        3. Press OK to View a list of WiFi Networks.

        4. Select and confirm your Network.

        5. Enter your password. See the character table, refer to Passwords for WiFi Time Clocks.

        6. Confirm that your password is correct.

        7. Enter your Company ID and press OK. (Your Company ID can be found in the upper right corner of your uAttend Web Portal.)

        9. Select a Time Zone based on the location of the clock.

        10. Press OK when setup is complete.

    Entering Letters
    To enter a password to join a WIFI network (CB5500, CB6500, BN5500, BN6500), you will use the numeric keypad to enter numbers, letters, and symbols. The following tables display the keys you will use to enter each letter. To enter letters, press the corresponding number when bottom bar reads [English].

    If for any reason a letter is entered incorrectly press the MENU key to delete that letter.

    Switching To Numbers
    To enter numbers press the ESC key once. To return to letters press the Checkmark  key until the bar at the bottom of the screen says [English].

    Entering Symbols
    To enter symbols press the Checkmark  key until it says SYMBOL and enter the appropriate numerical and key patterns for the symbol desired.

    Saving the Password

    Once the password is entered and you confirm that it is the correct password for your WIFI network. It is required to be in the Number entry mode to finalize the entry.

    - If you are in letter-entry mode press the ESC key once and press the OK key two times.
    - If you are in number-entry mode press the OK key two times.
    - If you are in symbol-entry mode press the Checkmark  key once then press ESC once, then the OK 
       key two times.

    Press the ESC key until you are back to the main screen. Wait for the password to authenticate and you should get SYSTEM READY in green.

    Using Time Clock Keypads

    The following table explains the functions of each key on the Series B (BN4000, BN3000, BN2500, BN1500, CB2500, CB1500, CB2000, and CB1000) time clock keypads.

    1–0

    Function as the numbers they represent. Use the keypad to enter a PIN by pressing the correct four digits, then pressing OK.

    ESC

    Used to exit from a menu or cancel a function.

    MENU

    Used to enter menu mode. Requires a manager password. The password can be changed by an administrator.

    UP ARROW/DEPT

    Pressing the up arrow/Dept key in standby mode will enable the department transfer function. In all other modes, this key is used to scroll up.

    DOWN ARROW/ID

    Pressing the down arrow/ID key in standby mode will allow a user to enter their PIN. In all other modes, this key is used to scroll down.

    OK

    Used to accept key entries.

    The following table explains the functions of each key on the Series C (BN6500, BN6000, BN5500, BN5000, CB6500, CB6000, CB5500, and CB5000) time clock keypads. 

    KEY

    FUNCTION

    1–0

    Function as the numbers they represent. Use the keypad to enter a PIN by pressing the correct digits, then pressing OK.

    MENU

    If you press the MENU key, a password screen allows you to log in. There are three levels of administration: Administrator, Super User, and Template Manager.

     

    Administrator — Administrators can access the Admin menu, where they can perform all of the functions available.

    Super User — Super Users can access the Super User menu, where they can perform all of the functions available.

    Template Manager — Template Managers can access the Template Manager menus, where they can perform all of the functions available.

     

    Passwords can be changed by an administrator.

    ESC/B-L

    Pressing the ESC/B-L key in standby mode will enable you to select the Break Punch or Lunch Punch function. In all other modes, this key is used to exit from a menu or cancel a function.

    UP ARROW/DT-JT

    Pressing the up arrow/DT-JT key in standby mode will enable you to select the Department Transfer or Job Tracking function. In all other modes, this key is used to scroll up.

    DOWN ARROW/PIN

    Pressing the down arrow/PIN key in standby mode will allow a user to enter their PIN. In all other modes, this key is used to scroll down.

    OK

    Used to accept key entries.

     

     

    Used to access the uAttend menu (timecard options and employee service options) and is otherwise used as a toggle button.


    NOTE:
     If you wish to change an option within a menu, press the MENU key, then use the up and down arrow keys to make your selection, and then press OK.

    Using Time Clock Menus—Series B


    Depending on the time clock model, the following menus are available on the Series B (BN4000, BN3000, BN2500, BN1500, CB2500, CB1500, CB2000, and CB1000) time clocks.

    User Management

    The User Management menu offers the following options:

    • Add User—used to register user templates on the time clock.
    • Delete User—used to delete user templates on the time clock.
    • Change Mgr Password—used to change the default manager password.
    • View User ID—used to identify which templates belong to a user. In this mode, a user will press their finger on the sensor and the time clock will display the fingerprint ID.
    • Download Templates—used to download an existing template into a new time clock.

    NOTE: The User Management menu does not appear on some time clock models.

    Device Management


    The Device Management menu offers the following options:

    • Update Time—used to synchronize a new time if time settings in the uAttend account change.
    • Device ID—used to display the Device ID for the time clock.
    • Upload Logo—used to import a logo from a uAttend account to display on the time clock.
    • Date Format—used to change the way that dates are displayed on the time clock.
    • Reverify Time—used to select how often the time clock will update its time setting.
    • Sounds—used to turn the time clock sounds on and off.
    • Time Format—used to change the way that time is displayed on the time clock.

     

    Communications

    The Communications menu will appear as one of the following:

    • Set IP—allows a user to set a static IP address in the time clock. Turn off DHCP before setting a static IP.
    • DHCP—used to turn DHCP on and off.
    • Network Settings—displays the time clock network settings.
    • Delete WIFI Settings—used to clear out the WIFI settings in the time clock.
    • View WIFI Settings—displays the network to which the time clock is connected.
    • Communicating Interface—allows users to select LAN or WIFI interface.

           OR

    • IP Address—displays the current IP address.
    • Subnet Mask—displays the current Subnet Mask.
    • DefGateway—displays the current Gateway.
    • DHCP—used to turn DHCP on and off.
    • DNS IP Addr—displays the current DNS IP address.

     

    System Management

    The System Management menu offers the following options:

    • Reset—resets the time clock to the factory default settings.
    • Help—displays the Customer Support telephone number.
    • MAC Address—displays the time clock’s MAC address.
    • Update Firmware—updates the firmware to the most updated version.
    • Firmware Version—displays the firmware version.

     

    Using Time Clock Menus—Series C

    Depending on the time clock model, the following menus are available on the Series C (BN6500, BN6000, BN5500, BN5000, CB6500, CB6000, CB5500, and CB5000) time clocks. There are three user types for these clocks: Administrator, Super User, and Template Manager. Each user type can access specific menus to perform functions.

    Administrator Menus

    The User Management menu offers the following option:

    • Change Password—used to change the default passwords for the Administrator, Super User, and Template Manager.

    The Device Management menu offers the following options:

    • Update Time—used to synchronize a new time if time settings in the uAttend account change.
    • Device ID—used to display the Device ID assigned to the CB6500.
    • Download Logo—used to import a logo from a uAttend account to display on the CB6500.
    • Time Date—used to change the way that dates and time are displayed on the CB6500.
    • Sound—used to turn the CB6500 sounds on and off.
    • Change Currency Icon—used to change the currency icon displayed.

    The CommSet menu offers the following options:

    • LAN Settings—displays the DHCP status, current IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS addresses, and Netspeed settings for LAN.
    • WIFI Settings—displays the DHCP status, current IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS addresses for WIFI.
    • Delete Network Settings—allows a user to delete the CB6500 network settings.
    • Proxy Server Settings—used to enable proxy server communication and to enter proxy server settings.
    • View WIFI Networks—displays networks to which you can connect your CB6500.
    • Communicating Interface—allows users to select LAN or WIFI interface. If this option is set to LAN, the WIFI Settings and View WIFI Networks options will not display. If this option is set to WIFI, the LAN Settings option will not display.

    The System Management menu offers the following options:

    • Reset To Factory Settings—resets the CB6500 to the factory default settings.
    • Help—displays the Customer Support telephone number and allows user to issue a support ticket.
    • Diagnostics—used to test fingerprint sensor, test RTC, and test audio.
    • MAC Addresses—displays the CB6500’s MAC addresses.
    • Update Firmware—updates the firmware to the most up-to-date version.
    • Display Firmware Version—displays the clock’s current firmware version.

    Super User Menu

    The System Management menu offers the following option:

    • Help—displays the Customer Support telephone number and allows user to issue a support ticket. Template Manager Menu

    NOTE: Some of the options listed above may not appear on all time clocks.

    See the following table for help with error messages you might encounter with the time clocks.

    ERROR MESSAGE

    NOTES

    DEVICE ID ERROR

    This message displays when the time clock has not been linked to a uAttend account. See the instructions in this Online Help for adding a time clock to your account.

    NET NOT FOUND

    This message displays if the time clock is not currently plugged into any networking device, or the networking device it is plugged into is turned off or is not functioning correctly.

     

    Check to make sure that:

    • Your network allows DHCP connections.
    • The network is not behind a firewall that blocks communication on port 80.

    SORRY, DEALER ID NOT FOUND

    Trackmytime.com will report this error if the Dealer ID you entered is not valid. Please contact your dealer representative for assistance.

    UNSUCCESSFUL LOGIN

    When you attempt to log in to trackmytime.com, the login form refreshes. This indicates that the username/password combination that you entered was not correct.

    If you have forgotten your username and/or password, click on the Email username/password link at the top of the page.

    SORRY, USER NOT FOUND

    This message displays if a user attempts to punch in, but their badge number or fingerprint ID has not been assigned to their user profile.

    SORRY, USER NOT VERIFIED

    This message displays if a user attempts to punch in, but their fingerprint template has not been registered.

    SERVER CONNECTION ERROR

    This message displays if the time clock is unable to communicate with our uAttend servers due to a firewall, content filter, or any other kind of network block.

    DNS ERROR

    This message displays if the time clock does not have a valid DNS server IP address to use for name resolution, or the DNS server it is contacting cannot properly resolve our host name for our uAttend servers.

    DHCP ERROR

    This message displays if the time clock does not receive proper IP address information provided to it from a DHCP server.

    DHCP UNAVAILABLE

    This message displays if the time clock receives no responses when attempting to contact a DHCP server.

    To remove a time clock from your account, follow these steps:

    1. Click the Settings tab on the main menu.

    2. Click the Punch Management link.

    3. From the list, click the red X that appears next to the name of the time clock.

    You will be prompted to confirm that you wish to remove the time clock.
