Getting Started

    The following shows the main application screen that displays after you have opened the register and set the till. A ticket appears at the left of the screen.

    A. Customer Loyalty icon—Search for existing members or add new members to your customer loyalty program. 

    B. Receipt number—Click on the receipt number to rename the ticket.

    C. Search box—Enter product name or part of a product name to search.

    D. Categories—Product categories to which subcategories are assigned. Subcategories (to which products are assigned) will display when a category is selected.

    E. Single Item Discount button—Press the button to display a list of all Single Item OnlySingle Item and Transaction, and Each Qualified Item discounts that can be applied to the item selected.

    F. Ticket—The list of products that are in the current transaction.

    G. Products—Products that you can select to add to an order.

    H. Hold/Resume button—Press the icon to place an order on hold. Once the order is placed on hold, the button displays as Resume. Press the icon to resume the held order. 

    I. Transaction Discount button—Press the button to display a list of all Transaction Only and Single Item and Transaction discounts that can be applied to the subtotal of discountable items in the transaction.

    J. Printer button—Press the icon to print a slip ticket for the order or an itemized bill. Restaurant Receipts must be enabled to print an itemized bill. See Restaurant Receipts for more details.

    K. Functions button—Press the icon to display the Functions menu.

    L. Payment type buttons—Click one of the icons (Bitcoin, Check, Card, Cash) to select a payment type for a transaction.

    M. User name—Click on your username to display the Log Out menu.

    N. Text icon—Displays a list of text orders and inquiries, if text messaging is enabled. Reply by clicking on the message. You can also print the message or create an order for the customer.

    O. Twitter icon—Allows you to tweet promotions and specials directly from your device.

    P. Phone icon—Displays a list of phone orders.

    Q. Settings icon—Press the icon to display the Settings menu.

    After you open the cash drawer, you will set the till. To set the till, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Settings button, located in the lower-right corner of the screen. You might skip this step if the screen shown below is already displayed on your POS.

    2. Press Open Till.

    3. In the Total Coins field, enter the total amount in coins that will be in your cash drawer at the start of the day.

    4. In the Total Bills field, enter the total amount in bills that will be in your cash drawer at the start of the day.

    Below are examples of the different till settings. To edit your till options, see Adding Devices. The till setting options are:

    • Simple—The Simple method requires that the employee enters the total sum of all bill denominations in dollars and the total sum of all change denominations in cents. 
    • Complex A—The Complex A method requires that the employee enters the total amount of each denomination of bills ($1 bills, $5 bills, and so on) in dollars and the total amount of each denomination of change (quarters, dimes, and etc.) in cents. 
    • Complex B—The Complex B method requires that the employee enters the total number of bills or coins in each denomination, which will then calculate the dollar amount of the denomination.

    5. Press Confirm.

    6. At the confirmation screen, press Confirm again.

    After the till has been set, the POS device will return to the main screen.

    NOTE: You can skip this step and enter zeroes if you like. Just note that your Z-Tape at the end of the day will not be accurate. Some people don't require that accuracy, and skipping this step is fine!

    When you log in, the POS device will display the main screen. If the cash drawer has not been opened, the products will be grayed out and you will be notified that the cash drawer must be opened before transactions can be performed.

    To open the cash drawer, follow these steps:

    1. Press the Settings button, located in the lower-right corner of the screen.

    2. Press Open Register.

    Once you open the register, you can open the till to start a transaction.
